I found Captain Dave to be the cream of the crop when it comes to fishing. He navigates these waters like a pro and is a very familiar with the different species of fish that one could come across while fishing. Professional is understatement for Captain Dave, but more like a true gentleman of the seas indeed. He has a calm and friendly demeanor, and really aims to educate you on fishing. He deployed various methods of fishing techniques with the objective of trying to catch as many fish as possible, while my wife and I were with him. Not only is Captain Dave a phenomenal fishing guide, he is also a wonderful person. He spent so much time patiently making sure that Thomas and his friend understood what we were doing at every step of the way, and so we all learned a lot.

And we also caught a heck of a lot of fish! In addition to this gorgeous Mangrove Snapper, we also caught Red Snapper (released, sadly!), Triggerfish (also released), Spanish Mackerel and Bonita. Thomas also had a monster of a Redfish on the line, but the wily fish managed to maneuver himself so that the engine cut the line. ("The one that got away...")

So if you are looking for a fantastic guided Father/Son fishing trip (or really for a great guided fishing trip of any kind), I enthusiastically recommend Captain Dave Yelverton and Gulf Breeze Fishing Charters!

  We met Capt Dave in Gulf Breeze for a morning of great catch-and-release (off season) fishing in Pensacola Bay and Pensacola Reach - red snappers, gag grouper. Capt Dave grew up in the area and shared lots of information about the local marine life and fish stories. We appreciated his easy going and friendly personality. And he knows exactly where to go for great fishing. We also enjoyed seeing pods of dolphins. The weather was cool, but very pleasant, especially since we were vacationing from a New England winter. We would happily go again, maybe durig red snapper season?

  I'm a regular customer. The unique thing about Capt Dave is that he can immediately put you on some big Red Snapper, Grouper and Red Fish right in calmer waters... read more of Pensacola Bay. These fish are typically targeted miles out in the bigger / deeper waters of the Gulf of Mexico; however, he'll have you reeling them in long before the Gulf guides have reached their first spot. You'll experience more action in a half day with Dave than a typical full day on the Gulf. This gentleman is passionate about getting his customers hooked up with the big ones. Capt Dave is fun, patient and a great instructor for the salt water novice.

He made the experience both relaxing and exciting. If you are a novice, he coaches and teaches you every step of the way. If you are experienced, he offers you his premium equipment, and he lets you do your thing.
His boat was extremely clean. He pointed out schools of sting rays, manta rays, and a sea turtle, as well as other wildlife we wouldn’t have noticed by ourselves.
His rate is very reasonable. I highly recommend!
